Tourism: Tickets for the Alhambra in Granada

I still remember my first visit to the Alhambra in Granada in which I coincided with a true flood of tourists that really prevented me from enjoying the great charm and artistic beauty of this impressive monument.

But for a long time the number of visitors who can access the Alhambra every day is limited to no more than 8,000 people, which will allow you to enjoy the visit much better. Now, this forces you to plan your Alhambra visit well and buy tickets for it well in advance, for which I am going to give you a series of useful tips.

Given the limitation of the number of visitors, if you are going to travel to Granada and want to visit the Alhambra on a weekend or at the time of greatest influx of visitors, you will have to buy tickets as soon as possible.

These high season dates actually already extend from spring to fall, including summer.

Guided tour of the Alhambra in Granada

First of all you have the alternative of visiting the Alhambra with a guided tour of those offered by various companies in Granada. I did so on my recent trip to Granada.

In this case, you should not worry about the tickets because when making the reservation for the mentioned guided tour, the tourist company itself is responsible for acquiring it within the quota reserved for groups. In this way, you have to take into account that the price of the guided tour already includes the entrance to the Alhambra.

Here you can sign up for a guided tour of the Alhambra in Granada, and here you have another alternative guided tour of the Alhambra for you to choose the one you prefer.

How to buy tickets from the Alhambra?

If you prefer to visit the Alhambra on your own, you have several options to buy tickets.

So you can get your tickets in the ATM network of La Caixa. You can also buy tickets online on the official website, or if you prefer, you can buy by phone by calling +34 858 95 36 16.

If you are already in Granada, you can go to the ticket office known as the Alhambra Store located at 40 Cat Reyes Street. In all these cases you will have to pay an extra cost of 1.40 euros for the management.

How to pick up the Alhambra tickets?

Tickets purchased online or by phone can be picked up at the aforementioned ATMs of La Caixa, at the Alhambra ticket offices, or at the automatic machines located in the monument's own access pavilion.

Finally, if you have not been a forecaster and you have not purchased the tickets before the day of your visit, you can still go when the Alhambra ticket offices are opened, at 8 in the morning, and see if you are lucky enough to have any tickets left of the small quota of daily sale.

I warn you that it is common for queues to be formed from time before the opening of the ticket office and that tickets are sold out soon. For your visit, at the entrance you will be assigned a specific time to visit the Nasrid palaces.

Keep in mind that it is advisable to arrive one hour in advance so that the access time is not passed, because you could no longer visit them if you arrive late.

Alhambra ticket prices

The ticket prices to visit the Alhambra (2019) are, generally, 14 euros, which allows you to access all the spaces, that is, the Nasrid palaces, the Alcazaba, the Generalife, the palace of Carlos V and the Bath of the Mosque.

You also have an entrance that will only allow you to walk through all the gardens of the enclosure, which costs you 7 euros. You also have night visits of the Alhambra to choose from, either the Nasrid palaces or the palace and gardens of the Generalife.
